The world is saved by the expendable villains

Warner and DC were able to consolidate the superhero genre in Hollywood thanks to Mavel. Warner and DC then decided to try to create their own worlds with their characters. Zack Snyder was given the chance to start it with The Man of Steel. (2013) and Batman v Superman (2016), which unfortunately didn’t produce the desired results.

After Snyder’s films, David Ayer directed his film about the group of villains that were used to accomplish impossible missions which would cost them their lives. This is the essence of Suicide Squad, which boasted an impressive cast and promised to be interesting. It was not, unfortunately.

Task Force X, the original name for the Squad, was renamed to Task Force X after five years. James Gunn, who tasted geek success by introducing a new group of misfits to Marvel that very few knew, brought Task Force X back with renewed vigor. The Guardians of the Galaxy He took on the challenge to reinvent the beloved / hated Suicide Squad in DC.

Warner granted Gunn’s Suicide Squad a freedom unlike any other film. It is full of testosterone and violence, blows, blood, and a lot of it in the 80s style action tapes. You only have to see the first 10 minutes of the film to get a sense of what the director will do.

Gunn follows the example of John Ostrander’s comics, which were created in the late 80s, early 90s, and first appeared in print in 1959. Gunn admits the absurdity of this group of criminals, who are used to accomplish missions in the purest form of the war tape Twelve at the Gallows (Aldrich 1967).

His brother Sean Gunn was able to cast a talented cast as Weasel and Nathan Fillion as TDK. Michael Rooker, Gunn’s fetish actor, plays the role of Savant. Gunn then unleashes his inner self in a continuation / Ayer’s Suicide Squad reboot. Here he can keep what he likes and correct the mistakes of the previous one.

Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman(Rick Flagg), and Jai Courtney, (Captain Boomerang) are the returning actors. Viola Davis, who seems to be born for the role, plays Amanda Waller. They are joined by new breeds of expendable talent like Peacemaker (John Cena), Bloodsport, Idris Elba, and the ridiculous Polka Dot Man, David Dastmalchian), as well as the innocent Ratcatcher 2 by Sylvester Stallone, also known as King Shark, or Nanaue, more commonly as King Shark by Sylvester Stallone, better known as King Shark.

This diverse group accomplishes what Ayer couldn’t: they create an empathy with antiheroes, who, curiously enough, don’t want them to die at anytime, despite carrying penance in their name. This is all before they are called upon to act to stop an evil leader in a small country who opposes the interests of the United States and Waller. Things will get more complicated when they find out that there are other than insane dictators who wish to declare war against the world.

Gunn’s new version is visually striking, from the costumes to proper production design. He has moved away from the Snyder style, but he doesn’t neglect the violence, irreverence, and gore that make up this Suicide Squad. Henry Braham’s photography uses a mix of bright colors, then transitions to a blue-and-white combination that graces the final scene. This is where the great villain is revealed and is a hilariously absurd moment.

Another virtue is music use, which Gunn already demonstrated with Marvel. The songs are great for narrative accompaniment. This is a perfect combination with John Murphy’s score featuring guitars as well as something else in the old-school style of action tapes.

He achieves a remarkable balance with his characters. Each one has their moment and Harley even gets to vindicating Flagg. This gives the film a unique and memorable approach in dealing with absurdity. The villains are not the stereotypes of anti-system baddies who get what they deserve. This is another thing that refers to the excess testosterone that helped to consolidate the heroes of this genre like Schwarzenegger and Willis.

It is because the story lacks that simplicity to be focused on its characters that it sins. Gunn is not interested in moral dilemmas, teaching, or trying to spread a message about inclusion or social responsibility. Gunn avoids harsh or pure entertainment speeches beyond a few moments.

James Gunn delivers two hilarious and informative post-credit scenes to help vindicate the team. He follows the same formula as Marvel, but exploits it more, making this one of the most memorable films in DC’s history. This leaves you longing for more information about this charismatic team. This is The Suicide Squad, a group of villainous expendables who are willing to die for the good of the world.
