Leake, Bats Lead Devils to Regional Championship Game
Mike Leake pitched 8 solid innings and the Sun Devils bashed out 15 runs on as many hits to defeat the Oklahoma Sooners 15-3 Saturday night at Packard Stadium. Box Score
Leake struck out six en route to his 10th win of the season, leaving Oklahoma Head Coach Sunny Golloway impressed.
The Sun Devils offense was paced by Ryan Sontag, Ike Davis and Petey Paramore, who recorded three hits each, but the most surprising hit of the night came off the bat of center fielder and ASU Football wideout Mike Jones, who hit a three-run, opposite field home run in the 6th inning to put the Devils ahead 10-2.
It was just the second career home run for Jones, and his first ever to right field.
After the game, Murphy talked about Jones's positive attitude.
"Murph" also talked about Mike Leake's growing reputation.
But Coach Murphy made it clear that ASU hasn't won anything yet.
Tomorrow, Oklahoma takes on the Vanderbilt Commodores at 2 pm, with the winner facing ASU at 7 pm.
